Here we go again

And their OFF! in a fleet of dodgy vans,  and sketchy trailers the Unfairground takes its summer pitch down on Worthy Farm. It’s ok we’re expected. A few of us are going. You’ve seen the film! We don’t read books! NOW see the Tee shirt. Thanks to Jakey for being a model .

On a slow boat to Japan

Finally all the pieces slotted into place this Thursday as the crew gathered down in Findon to load the mother of all shipping containers with the set for Fuji Rock Festival in late July. In a secret location deep in the woods the finishing touches were put of the Unfairgrounds sideshows which will accompany the Palace of Wonder outside the Festivals walls.
The weeks painting finished with the tightest load ever seen, it was touch and go whether it would all fit, but with some pushing and shoving the last bits slotted into place.

New High Striker

Loads happening this month. Works underway for two new High Strikers (test your strength machines) for Fuji Rock Festival in July….I know ages away, but the shipping container leaves mid May so better get a wiggle on. Above is the new Kids striker ‘Dancing Bones’ at 3m high it may be a little easier for our littlest hammer swingers to ring the bell. ‘The Knuckle Sandwich’ the sister to the 7.5m Old boney come in at a modest 5m. Hopefully you’ll see them all together at Glastonbury 2013, look out for the ‘Bone yard high strikers’ at a festival near you!

Slag

Slag opens tonight, an anti Valentine show with Carrie Reichardt at the wheel, backed by various Mutoid associates , Nick Reynolds et al. The event will be held at Carrie Reichardt’s studios ……. 199 Acton Lane, Chiswick W4 5DA.
If you didn’t make it down before Christmas…You got to see this shop! Mental nick-nacks sit next to twisted dolls in an anarchist shop in… Chiswick, yes, I know, trust me its a weird afternoon out with a lot of affordable stuff for sale. Heres a sample of what the press said: ” Jesus christ what a whopper of a shop” Daily Mail on Sunday. ” Fuck me i couldn’t believe the bargains” The Sunday Times.

Unfairground update

Glastonbury report 2011

old_boney_sun

So back in the land of the toilet, a land far far away from the long drop loo. Muddy dirty and tired with a million things to do before i fly to Norway friday.
Much rain made the going underfoot swampy during the build but thankfully the weather cleared and the sun baked the mud into 2 foot waves by the time the festival started. The unfairground is a late night spot with stuff happening in the field starting at midnight. the sideshows were rammed and Old Boney proved a great hit, if you excuse the pun.

base1

We had over 700 customers test their strength, but to be fair its hard to give it your best shot, off your tits at 4am in the morning in a muddy field. We had about 50 really strong guys who managed against the odds to ring the bell each of them receiving a original and unique art work for their efforts.

girl_hammer

As you can see there were plenty of girls who attempted to ring the bell, hats off to them, it was a long way up! Thanks to all those who had a go, and congratulations to those truly strong folk who rang the bell.

Old Boney (under construction)

Well i have been banging on and on about this unfairground stricker for some time without revealing much about how it will look. Construction’s going well and at last i have something to show you.
This is just the top section, the whole thing stands over 6 meters tall, successful rings on the bell get Dotmaster prizes, original works, hand made voodoo dolls and some other surprizes. Its bloody big and bloody hard to win so its fits right in at the Unfairground at this years Glastonbury.
